Questions and answers
Frequently asked questions
01What exactly happens to the money I give?
It funds the package you chose, and nothing else. Every package on the giving list states what it provides — milk and bananas for a child, a cooked thali, a food packet with water, a grocery kit for a family, an education kit, a meal for a street dog, a tree — and your gift buys that thing, which we then prepare and serve at our own distribution.
The amount shown against a package is the amount charged, in Indian rupees. Nothing is added at the payment step, no processing fee is passed on to you, and there is no shipping or handling charge, because nothing is posted to you. No commission is paid to anyone for bringing your donation in.
Where a distribution cannot be carried out as described, we tell you and offer you the choice between a refund and moving the gift to another cause. We will not move it without asking you.
02How do I know the food was actually served?
Photographs from the distribution come back to you once it has been served, along with confirmation of the amount, the cause and the date. That is deliberately the whole of the claim we make: a specific, physical thing either reached somebody or it did not, and a photograph can show you which.
You may receive fewer photographs than you expect, and sometimes none. A photograph in which a person can be recognised is published or sent only where consent for that use has been recorded and a dignity, accuracy and risk review has passed. That review refuses images, and when it does, you get the confirmation without the picture. The person in the frame comes before the proof.
03Which payment methods can I use?
Cards (credit, debit and prepaid), UPI, netbanking and wallets are offered, all in Indian rupees. Instalments, cash on delivery, Apple Pay and Google Pay are not offered, and the payment step does not show them.
Payment is taken by a gateway licensed to operate in India. You enter your payment details there, not here: we never see or store your card number, your card verification value, your bank credentials, your PIN or a one-time password. What comes back to us is the outcome, the amount and the gateway’s reference.
Every gift on this site is one-time. Nothing sets up a recurring or automatic payment, so there is no subscription to cancel and nothing will be taken from you again unless you come back and give again.
04Do I get a receipt, and can I claim 80G tax exemption?
80G details are not part of this donation.
The payment step offers no 80G option, and we do not ask you for a PAN or the other particulars an 80G receipt would require. Nothing on this site claims a tax exemption, a deduction or an eligibility, and we do not promise that any receipt will carry a particular tax benefit.
You do receive an email confirming the amount, the cause and a reference you can quote back to us, and a record of the gift in your account if you have one. Whether any tax benefit is ever available to you depends on your own circumstances and on the registrations in force at the time. Nothing here is tax or legal advice; please confirm your position with a qualified professional, and ask us before you give if the answer would change your decision.
05Can I cancel or get a refund?
A donation is a voluntary contribution rather than a purchase, and once a payment has succeeded the funds are committed to the work described — food is often bought and cooked shortly afterwards. So a completed donation is generally not refundable on request. Please check the amount on the review step before you pay.
We will look at a refund where you were charged more than once for the same gift, where you were charged an amount different from the amount the site showed you, where a technical fault took a payment that should not have been taken, where you gave by genuine mistake and tell us promptly, where the donation was not authorised by you, or where we cannot carry out the distribution and cannot agree an alternative with you. A duplicate or incorrect charge is our mistake and we refund it in full.
To ask, write to annmayafoundation@gmail.com with "Refund request" in the subject line, or call or message +918004783575. Tell us the name and email you gave, the date and amount, the reference from your confirmation email or your bank statement, and what went wrong. We acknowledge every request within three working days and give you a decision, with the reason for it, within seven working days of having everything we need. A refund goes back to the method you paid with; how long it then takes to appear is decided by the gateway and your bank.
06My bank shows a debit but the site did not confirm my gift. What now?
Do not pay again to compensate. Where a payment fails or stays pending, the money is usually held by the gateway and reversed automatically, commonly within five to seven working days. If a payment failed, no donation is recorded and nothing is owed by you.
Write to us with the payment reference from your bank or card statement and we will trace it and tell you exactly what happened. Closing the payment window is not a donation, and leaving the payment step charges you nothing.
07What do you do with my personal information?
We collect what a donation, a receipt or a reply actually needs: your name, your email, your mobile number if you give one, the details of the gift, and anything you write to us. We never see or store your payment credentials. We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and there is no analytics or advertising script running on this site.
One thing does go to an advertising platform when a gift completes. We tell Meta the amount, which step was reached, a pseudonym made from your email and a secret key of ours that Meta cannot turn back into you, and — only if you arrived by clicking one of our advertisements — the click identifier Meta itself created. Never your name, email, phone, PAN or donation reference. It is sent from our server, not by a script in your browser. The privacy policy explains it in full, including how to opt out.
Our application and database are hosted in Singapore, so your information leaves India, and each of our service providers — the payment gateway, the hosting provider, the email provider, the sign-in provider, the network security provider — is contracted to use it only to do its job for us.
You can ask what we hold about you and get a copy, have anything inaccurate corrected, have information erased where no law requires us to keep it, and withdraw a consent you gave. The privacy policy sets out every one of those rights, how long we keep each kind of record, and how to raise a grievance.
08Can I give anonymously?
Yes. If you ask for a gift to be anonymous, your name is not shown publicly anywhere on this site. We still hold your details privately, because a donation record, a receipt and a refund all need them, and because we need somewhere to send your photographs.
09Can I give in memory of someone, or for a specific date?
Yes to both. You can tie a gift to an occasion or to someone you are remembering, and you can ask for it to be served on a particular date. We serve it on that date wherever we can. Where a date cannot be met — a local restriction, a supply problem, weather — we tell you and agree another date with you rather than letting it pass quietly.
A change of date is not a failure to carry out the gift and does not on its own create a refund. If you would rather have the money back in that situation, ask us and we will consider it under the donation and cancellation policy.
10How do I volunteer?
Read the volunteer page first. It sets out the kinds of help that are genuinely useful, what each one involves, and exactly what we do with the details you send us — including the fact that a volunteer enquiry is not a donation record and is not used to market anything to you.
Then send us an enquiry from that page, or write to us directly. Tell us where you are, roughly when you are free, and which kind of help you had in mind. We will tell you honestly whether we can use it and when, including when the answer is not yet. Anyone joining a distribution is asked to read and follow the safeguarding policy, and that is not negotiable.
11We are a company. How do we start a CSR conversation?
Start on the CSR and partners page. It sets out the kinds of engagement that fit how we work, what we can and cannot commit to, and what a first conversation covers. Then write to us from that page or directly, and tell us what you are trying to achieve and by when.
Two things worth knowing before you write. We publish no partner logos and no partner names on this site unless a partner has asked us to, so a listing is not what you are buying. And we will not commit to an impact figure we cannot evidence, which means a proposal from us will describe packages, quantities and dates rather than an outcome expressed as a statistic.
12How do I reach a person?
Write to Annmaya Foundation at annmayafoundation@gmail.com, or call or message +918004783575. Our registered address is Kerakatpur, Lohta, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh 221107, India. We aim to reply within three working days.
Email is best for anything about a donation, a receipt, a refund, your personal information, accessibility or a safeguarding concern, because it gives us a record to work from. Call or message if you would rather speak to somebody, or if any part of the donation flow does not work for you — in that case do not struggle with it, and we will take you through the gift directly.
If you are not satisfied with an answer, reply to the same thread asking for it to be escalated and it will be reviewed by somebody who did not handle it the first time.
